CLEAR LAKE – 77062, 77059
Located in Southeast Harris County, Clear Lake City was annexed by Houston in 1977. As the second largest master-planned community in Houston, Clear Lake City was named after Clear Lake which separates Harris County from Galveston County and is the mouth of Clear Creek which runs into the Galveston Bay.
In 1961 the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) selected this area of Houston to host its Manned Space Craft center later renamed after the late President Lyndon B. Johnson. For more than three decades, the Johnson Space Center has been the world leader in human space flight operations for NASA.
The area's most important employment sectors include aerospace, software, electronics, biotechnology and tourism. Clear Lake hosts a diverse community of ethnicities and an award winning school district.
