Nestled in a crescent moon shape off of Galveston Bay, Kemah is a place for live entertainment, carnival fun and an abundance of fresh seafood. Originally known as Evergreen in the late 1800s, Kemah was established in 1907 when they were granted a post office. Kemah, a Karankawa Indian word meaning "Facing the Wind," receives a constant breeze from the bay. While the city has been devastated many times from hurricanes, visitors are always welcomed with friendly faces and true, southern hospitality.
